Adaptability and stability of jabuticaba tree genotypes based on plant growth Agronomy
Radaelli, Juliana Cristina; Silva, Marciéli da; Kosera Neto, Carlos; Wagner Júnior, Américo; Domingues, Lucas da Silva.
The aim of this work was to verify by means of adaptability and stability analyses which genotype of Plinia sp. (jabuticaba tree) is more adapted to orchard conditions, based on the measures of stem growth and primary shoots. During a three-year period, the initial growth of jabuticaba tree genotypes from the native fruit collection of the Experimental Station of the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná - Câmpus Dois Vizinhos was evaluated. These genotypes included seedlings from forest fragments of the southwestern region of Paraná State and some from Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed, in a 29 x 3 factorial design, with three replicates in each treatment. Phenotypic adaptability and genotypic stability were...

Aspects of the sensorial quality and nutraceuticals of Plinia cauliflora fruits Agronomy
Wagner Júnior, Américo; Paladini, Marcos Villy; Danner, Moeses Andrigo; Moura, Gisely Correa de; Guollo, Karina; Nunes, Isadora Bischoff.
Nationally known in Brazil, the jabuticabeira or jabuticaba tree produces fruits of wide commercial acceptance. However, little use of jabuticaba in commercial orchards and large genetic erosion of jabuticaba caused by human activities in its habitats have been historically observed. Thus, the goal of this study was to characterize fruits of the jabuticaba tree (Plinia cauliflora) in a forest fragment maintained in southwestern Paraná State in an attempt to identify trees with superior fruits for future selection as cultivars or male genitors. To this end, 15 variables linked to sensory and biochemical characteristics of harvested fruits were analysed during two years of production. Twenty percent of the genotypes that showed the highest frequency of...

Germination and emergence of passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) seeds obtained by self- and open-pollination Agronomy
Santos, Carlos Eduardo Magalhães dos; Morgado, Marcos Antônio Dell'Orto; Matias, Rosana Gonçalves Pires; Wagner Júnior, Américo; Bruckner, Claudio Horst.
Seed dormancy is an important adaptive mechanism in many species and is generally lost during plant domestication because of selection that occurs through the collection and planting of seeds. We compared germination and seedling emergence in selfed and open-pollinated progenies obtained from eight passion fruit vines (genotypes). Self-pollination was performed at the button stage to overcome self-incompatibility. The experiment was a randomized block design in a factorial scheme (2 x 8; type of progeny x genotypes) with four replicates and 50 seeds per experimental unit. At 14, 21 and 28 days after sowing, the germination percentage and the emergence speed index were analyzed. The total length of seedlings (cm), shoot length (cm), radicle length (cm) and...
